Drones are evolving beyond their military applications to become powerful business tools. They’ve made the way to the consumer market, and now they’re being put to work in commercial and civil government applications from firefighting to farming. That’s creating a market opportunity and solutions for some sectors.

However, It’s at the same time posing a significant threat for use as a weaponized tools, and privacy breach. To mitigate the negative impact of drones on our society, there is a need for both the detection and intervention of the increasing number of small drones in our immediate airspace.

Advantages of using radars

Surveillance by humans and optical systems has advantages, but is also limited by range and visual conditions. That’s why effective drone detection systems utilize radar. Radar can detect multiple targets simultaneously, also under low visibility conditions.

Since radar doesn’t depend on signals transmitted by drones, it’s also able to detect autonomous drones, whereas other sensors may only detect radio transmissions from remote controlled drones. Radar is also a precision tool, allowing you to see exactly where the drone is in real-time, as well as where it’s been. Knowing exactly where the drone is in real-time is important in case you’re integrating other sensors and mitigation effectors, like cameras, jamming devices, lasers, spoofers, protocol manipulators, etc.

Our Radar offers unique complementary potential to human observation. Radar can detect birds at distances of up to 10 kilometers, all around, day and night. It automatically detects and logs hundreds of birds simultaneously, including their size, speed, direction, flight path and location in accurate meters.

See Bird Movements In Real Time

The “Visualiser” displays bird movements on a map in real time. Users can orientate by using a Google background or a customized map with important landmarks and are able to zoom in on a specific bird track that represents its flight path. These tracks have different colours to distinguish high-risk birds from low(er)-risk birds. The circle at the end of the track is the bird’s present location.
